In-Vessel Composting (Recycling / Processing)

Billy Bowie is dedicated to a cleaner environment and our waste Transfer Station will benefit the whole community whilst allowing us to process low hazard waste in an environmentally friendly manner.

Some of the waste arriving on site is already pre-sorted, but most arrives as mixed general waste which is segregated into specific types of waste via our barrel screen and picking line enabling us to deposit plastic, timber, paper and metal in the appropriate bays.

Billy Bowie is committed to recovering as much material as possible for re-use and / or re-processing.

Paper and cardboard are graded and baled ready for safe distribution to mills.

Timber is graded and shredded into wood shavings many uses including as feed stock for our on site in-vessel composting facility or chip board manufacture.

Adjacent to our Transfer Station we have a purpose built composting facility housing two buildings, one for reception of waste and the other is a maturation building.

The new facility will has the ability to accept ABP and food waste, catering waste and green garden waste.

Our system is modular, this gives us the ability to try various waste steams without affecting the whole of our process. We have Animal Health Validation along with PAS100 - the national standard for compost. We are members of the Association of Organics Recycling.
